we were due to go to llandegla, but looking on there web site they had a dollop of snow the day before, so with the cold temp we went to cannock instead,

got there for 10.30 to be met by very cold forest carpark and with the delay of the others we didn't set of till 11.30 and ended up hiding in the van to keep warm,

5 of us riding doing the dog and monkey trail, the two 'newbies' shot off on the first two sections and i thought (later to be proved right) ..tortiose and hare syndrome, the conditions were quite slippy mainly because o fthe trails wearing away and exposing the pebble base which was damp and wet.

The trail in places was quite muddy and made some sections hard going due to wheel spin, i was on a carbon 29er and with the wide bars and at times narrow trail i was clipping a few trees with at one point clipped one whcih threw me off line to a dead stop using my right shoulder as a brake.

Did all the black runs on the monkey trail but with the 29er i was using i didn;t feel comfortable tackling the rocky drops.

second time iv'e borrowed the 29er and decided it's a good bike but not for me, (think i;m too used to my enduro expert)

got round in about 2hrs 30 which included stops to laugh as one in our party went straight over the bars on a rocky descent (no harm done) and to generally egg each other on to do some of the sections twice to film it.

cold muddy day but better then sitting at home
